Officers held for trial in inmate-abuse case

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -

Three correctional officers accused of harassing and mistreating inmates at the York County Prison have been held for court on all charges.

A district judge on Wednesday found enough evidence to forward the cases against David Michael Whitcomb, 28, of Red Lion; Mark Andrew Haynes, 26, of Jacobus; and Daniel H. Graff, 37, of York.

The three allegedly organized wrestling matches between inmates, and presented inmates with bizarre food and drink challenges, according to police.

One inmate told authorities that in exchange for lounge coffee and food, he drank a gallon of milk in an hour, snorted crushed candy, and drank a bottle of water with pepper foam.

All three have been placed on unpaid administrative leave.

Formal arraignments in York County Court are scheduled Dec. 13.
