A man and woman jumped out of their third floor apartment in Harrisburg during a fierce fire.
Flames broke out at the Harrisburg Park Apartments at 1410 South 15th Street just before 1:00 a.m. Thursday.
Neighbors watched in horror as the couple jumped out of their window to try to get away from the fire. They say the man might have broken his leg and the woman might have hurt her hand. Officials have not given an official update on their condition.
The third floor of the building was heavily damaged. Fire officials said about 30 residents were displaced. They will be taken to a shelter at a nearby church. The Red Cross is also on the scene assisting residents.
Neighbors said the couple that jumped told them the only reason they are alive is because of their dog, who barked until they woke up.
"That dog is a hero," neighbor Antoine Arsenec said.
The dog passed away as a result of the fire.
Investigators are trying to determine a cause. It's unclear if there were any working smoke detectors.
