Mission Central collecting for typhoon victims

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Mission Central in Mechanicsburg is now collecting items for victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The storm last week is blamed for more than 3,600 confirmed deaths, and at least 1,100 others are missing.

Medical supplies and equipment are urgently needed.

Mission Central is teaming up with Project CURE to collect first aid and hygiene supplies to help those affected by the devastating storm.

The organization will be collecting only the following items, which must be new and in unopened packages:

- Peroxide

- Sterile Gloves

- Bandages (Band-Aids, Gauze, Dressings, Tape)

- Neosporin

- Diapers

- Baby Bottles

- Baby Formula

- Pedialyte

- Personal Care Items (Soap, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Feminine Hygiene Supplies)

Donations can be dropped off at Mission Central, a 5 Pleasant View Drive, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

To donate money, checks should be written to Mission Central, and "Give Differently" should be written in the memo line.
