CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Two people are in serious condition after a hit-and-run crash in Franklin County. Police said the tractor trailer driver responsible was driving under the influence.

It happened shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday on I-81 north in Chambersburg. Investigators said a tractor trailer was driving erratically and crashed into two cars that were parked on the shoulder.

The drivers of those cars were both flown to the hospital with severe injuries.

Investigators said the driver of the tractor trailer, 41-year-old Ricky Hatfield, ran from the scene. State police said they tracked him down at a nearby gas station.

Hatfield is charged with two counts of aggravated assault while DUI and other related charges for leaving the scene of a serious crash.
