South Boston Quilting Group to Send Quilts to Wounded Troops

Posted:

South Boston, VA-- For years, a group of people in South Boston have used their love of quilting to give comfort to troops overseas. Now, they're reaching out asking the community to help.

Once a month, the Appreciation Quilting Workshop meets at the American Legion Post 8. They sew quilts and send them to wounded troops at medical centers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

So far they have 20 quilts to send after Thanksgiving, but would love more.

If you have an unfinished quilt, they'll even finish it for you.

"When we load them on the back of his truck and he drives to the post office, in my mind's eye, I see them being opened and being given to these kids, I'm selfish, it does my heart so much good," said Ellie Jacobs, Coordinator of Appreciation Quilting Workshop.

If you have a quilt you'd like to donate, call Ellie Jacobs 434-572-1998 or 434-446-2040.
