Susquehanna SD board members file lawsuit

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Two school board members with the Susquehanna Township School District filed a lawsuit against the board and the district's superintendent.

Board members Jesse Rawls, Sr. and Mark Sussman say their First Amendment rights are being infringed and want to void the employment contract between the school board and Superintendent Susan Kegerise.

Earlier this school year, abc27 reported that the superintendent's contract includes clauses that dictate how she is to be treated by the board. Her attorney has sent letters to individual board members, demanding public retractions and apologies.

Rawls, Sr. and Sussman want the court to nullify Kegerise's contract. The suit also seeks punitive damages from Kegerise, citing First Amendment violations that constitute "reckless, wanton, intentional and/or malicious actions" on her part.
