Carlisle police are looking for a driver who got away after leading officers on a high-speed chase early Tuesday.
An officer had stopped a blue Jeep Cherokee for a stop sign violation at S. Hanover Street and Interstate 81 just after 3 a.m., but the driver fled when the officer stepped from his vehicle, police said.
The driver turned off the Jeep's lights to avoid identification and reached speeds of more than 100 mph before the SUV became disabled in the area of Holly Pike and Rice Elementary, police said.
The driver and a passenger fled and were not found.
Officers later discovered the Jeep had been stolen in New Jersey.
Anyone with information is asked to call Carlisle police at 717-243-5252.
