NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Harrisburg man has been jailed on charges he was driving drunk in a stolen car.

Fairview Township police said when 50-year-old Kurt Patrick Newkam was pulled over for not stopping at a stop sign and failing to use turn signals on Nov. 21, he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and initially gave an officer a false name.

He eventually provided his correct name and admitted that he had stolen the car, police said.

Newkam was charged with DUI, receiving stolen property, false identification to law enforcement and driving while his license was suspended for a previous DUI.

He was arraigned and sent to York County Prison on $60,000 bail.
