Online grocery shopping helping people of all ages

Posted: Updated:
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Giant Food Stores launched its online effort with sister company Peapod two weeks ago.

The program allows customers to avoid long lines by ordering their groceries online using their keyboard or smart phone 24 hours in advance. Shoppers can drive up to pick up their orders and a store associate will load them.

Online shoppers can still benefit from the savings and deals that are found in stores. Peapod is only available at the Camp Hill and Susquehanna Township stores.

A Giant spokesperson says the online effort has been a hit, and they are considering adding the service to other locations in 2014.

Weis Markets has provided online shopping with pick up service at many locations including Linglestown Road in Harrisburg and the East Market Street and Roosevelt Avenue locations in York.
