Leak slows repairs at sinkhole site

CAMP HILL, Pa. (WHTM) -

A repair crew that put a temporary patch on a massive sinkhole in Lower Allen Township had to do another round of digging Wednesday.

A second leak was found in the water main that broke early Tuesday under the 400 block of Deerfield Road.

A resident of the block, Emma Lynn Conners, had much of her driveway dug up during the initial repairs and she is now worried about her foundation.

Conners found cracks in a wall, and was forced to stay in a hotel overnight - paid for by Pennsylvania American Water.

Conners also had to cancel her Thanksgiving plans.

"I knew that I would not stay home in the house because things were getting closer to  my house," she said.

Another resident of the block, Christopher Catherman, is a geologist who does sinkhole repairs.

"It's what I call a compound sinkhole," he said of the hole on his street. "It's multiple holes. That's what it really, truly is."
