2 injured in York home explosion

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -

Two people were injured in an explosion at a York home on Tuesday evening.

York City Police were called to the scene of a reported explosion in the 300 block of Smyser Street at around 8:30 p.m.

Officers found two injured people at the scene, 23-year-old Daniel Kushla and 22-year-old Jake Ritchie. Both men were taken to York Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

As per normal protocol, BATF was notified and responded. Working with York City investigators, officials determined that there did not appear to be any malicious intent with the explosive device.

The case was returned to the jurisdiction of the York City Police Department.
