Crowds Come Out to Shop on Black Friday

Lynchburg, VA-  Lots of shoppers were hitting the stores to get those Black Friday deals.  However, most of the large crowds were seen Thursday night.

Shoppers said they were Christmas shopping and looking for toys, clothes, and videos. A steady crowd of people crowded the stores throughout the day Friday. They were all looking for those long-awaited deals.

"We got the paper early yesterday morning, scoured it all day," said Jenny Seay who came from Amherst to shop.

Aric Nowlin works at Target and he started his shift Thursday night at 7 p.m.  The next morning at 7 a.m., he was still there. He said, the largest crowds came when the doors opened.

"Once the doors opened at 8 p.m. everyone was flocking into the store. Our lines were wrapped down on our A side of the store- kinda like a snake going all the way through," said Nowlin.  He also said the most popular items he saw were the XBOX 1 and Play Station 4, and also the $4 and $5 DVDs.

"It seemed like last night was a hit. Most people were in line ready to go at around 7 p.m. when I first arrived," said Nowlin.

Even though there was more of a crowd Thursday night, people still chose to brave the early hours and cold weather to shop the bargains. For many, Black Friday is a family tradition.

"The deals, the fun, we do it every year. This year we brought the girls for the first time- so we're excited," said Seay.

Target tells us the biggest sale items this year seemed to be electronics and toys. They saw lines wrapped around the building Thursday night, but were well staffed for crowd control.

They say they also were well stocked with product-- and did not run out of many things.
