UPDATE: Standoff in Boonsboro Ends Peacefully

Lynchburg, VA - The standoff between a man who barricaded himself inside a Boonsboro home and Lynchburg Police has ended peacefully.

Police say they responded to the welfare of a person around 4:23 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Woodland Drive.

"At that point the tact team was called. A tact team set up a perimeter,,, [the] crisis negotiation team was called [and] hey actually negotiated with him throughout the day, and he finally agreed to come out without any incident," said Todd Rhodes, Master Police Officer, with the Lynchburg Police Department.

Police say the man was not arrested, but was taken in for a mental evaluation.

The incident lasted about seven hours.

No one was hurt.

No charges have been filed.

Lynchburg, VA – There is a lot of police activity in the Boonsboro area of Lynchburg.

Police say a call came in a little after 4 a.m. about a persons check at a residence in the area near Carters Grove Lane.

When they arrived on the scene, they say a man barricaded himself inside.

Negotiations with that man are underway.

Police would not say if the man had a gun.
