HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Pennsylvania State Police say the tanker truck crash that caused a massive fire on the ramp from Interstate 81 northbound to State Route 322 was a result of excessive speeding.

Officials completed the investigation of the crash and released the findings Tuesday around 11:40 a.m.

The crash occurred on May 9 when the tanker, fully loaded with diesel fuel, overturned on the ramp near mile marker 67.

The statement from state police says the driver, Thomas Uecker, 52, from Dover, Pa, failed to negotiate a left hand curve, causing the truck to leave its lane and hit a guardrail.

After hitting the guardrail, the truck went approximately 150 feet and struck a concrete barrier, flipped on its side and burst into flames.

Ueker has been cited for driving vehicle at safe speed, driving on roadways laned for traffic and accidents involving overturned vehicles.
