Danville, VA - God's Storehouse in Danville received a check Thursday for about half of their food purchases for all of next year.
Thursday Walmart gave the food pantry a check for $52,000. The money will go towards feeding thousands of people in our area.
God's Storehouse applied for a grant earlier this year and they were able to get more than they expected. They say they will be able to stretch the dollars even more, because they buy in bulk.
"She brings in the mail and she just said you might want to take a look at this and so I opened it up and I read it and I was like '$52,000!'. There were a couple of screams!" said Karen Harris, Executive Director of God's Storehouse.
This is one of the largest donations they've received for food purchases.
