Swatara Township Police continue to investigate storm grate thefts that are costing taxpayers money.
Three steel covers were taken earlier in the week from the 400 block of Port View Drive and another was taken Wednesday night near the corner of Morningside Way and Chambers Hill Road.
Chief Jason Umberger says his concern continues to be public safety. He says someone could drive on top of the missing cover and get into an accident.
Middletown has had three covers stolen in the past three weeks. Police say borough employees wearing uniforms are the only people authorized to remove the storm drain covers.
Police in Highspire, Steelton, Lower Swatara and Lower Paxton Township have been investigating similar thefts in their communities.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
