Police in Dauphin County have identified the homicide suspect they took into custody following an investigation into a death at a Lower Paxton Township apartment complex.
Authorities arrested 27-year-old James Earl Greer, Jr. and charged him with criminal homicide.
Officials were dispatched to an apartment in the 4000 block of Rawleigh Street after receiving a report of a man down at around 6 a.m.
Upon arrival, authorities found a deceased woman in the bedroom of the apartment and a man, later identified as Greer, who appeared to be sick. He was transported to an area hospital by South Central EMS for what appeared to be a poisoning incident.
According to officials, the female victim lived in the apartment with two young children who were asleep at the time of the incident. They are now in the custody of Children & Youth Services.
Authorities believe Greer poisoned himself in an attempt to commit suicide, Lt. Gary Seefeldt said.
Police said Greer is also the father of one of the children found safe in the apartment.
