Icy conditions keep body shops busy

Posted: Updated:
CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

Icy road conditions led to several crashes in Pennsylvania this weekend. And while it caused plenty of problems in the Midstate, the bad weather was actually good for some local businesses, like Faulkner Collision Center in Carlisle.

"It is always great for the collision center, unfortunately. We are one of the businesses you don't want to come to, but we rely on the weather," said Bob Finkle, manager of Faulkner Collision Center.

"The storm here has created a lot of accidents over the weekend. We have had quite a few tow-ins, and we are getting a lot of phone calls here today."

Finkle says storms can triple or quadruple their business overnight.

"A lot of extra overtime for our estimators. They will be here into the night just estimating the cars, ordering parts, getting them ready to be brought into the shop," said Finkle.

Local windshield repair shops were also busy with customers who had cracked windshields due to flying ice and the temperature change.
