DALLASTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -

A clerk who reported a robbery at a York County convenience store is accused of taking the money himself and concocting the story to cover up his crime.

Brandon Raffensberger, 23, of Dallastown, initially told officers he was opening the Tom's at 160 E. Main Street when four masked men entered the store and demanded cash early Tuesday.

York Area Regional police said their investigation determined there was no robbery and that Raffensberger had taken the money himself.

Raffensberger confessed to the crime and was charged with theft, receiving stolen property and false reports to law enforcement, police said.

He was sent to York County Prison on $7,500 cash bail.
