HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A man who worked as an overnight cleaner at a Harrisburg-area bank was charged with theft after surveillance cameras caught him stealing money from a teller's drawer, police said.

Leonard E. Thompson, 58, of Harrisburg, was cleaning the Members 1st Bank at 8100 Derry Street before it opened Dec. 11 and was recorded as he removed a roll of cash and put it in his pocket, according to Swatara Township police.

Thompson allegedly stole $11,250 and was arrested at his home just a few hours after the bank opened and discovered the theft.

He was released on $5,000 bond and faces a preliminary hearing Jan. 15.
