Monroe Man Found Guilty on Child Abuse Charges

UPDATE:  A Monroe man is looking at jail time for intentionally burning a small child. An Amherst County judge found 20-year-old Anthony Seawell guilty on two counts of malicious wounding and felony child neglect.


The charges steamed from an incident last December. The child who was burned was treated at Lynchburg General and released.


Seawell's sentencing has been set for August 26th.

UPDATE: The trial for a man accused of intentionally burning a small child is underway in Amherst County.

The Sheriff's Office says 20 year old Anthony Seawell has been charged with malicious wounding and felony child neglect.
   
The charges stem from an incident last December.

Amherst Co., VA - A judge has denied bond for the second time for a Monroe man accused of  intentionally burned a small child. The Amherst County Sheriff's Office charged Anthony Seawell with malicious wounding and felony child neglect in December.


The child who was burned was treated at Lynchburg General and released shortly after.  An Amherst County judge previously denied bond for Seawell in February. 


Seawell will be in court next on June 18.
