HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A bill to toughen penalties for child pornography charges is headed to the desk of Governor Tom Corbett.

House Bill 321 cleared the legislature Monday after unanimous votes in the House of Representatives and Senate.

Under the measure, sentencing guidelines will be enhanced and will be based upon the age of the child victimized, the number of images possessed, and the nature and character of the abuse.

The legislation also enhances the penalty if the image in question involves any indecent contact with the child.

Corbett is expected to sign the bill into law this week.
