Police in Dauphin County have charged a Susquehanna Township man with indecently assaulting a 5-year-old girl.

According to officials, 50-year-old Thomas Blake Lightner, Jr. of the 100 block of Shell Street was charged with indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors, all felonies, due to the age of the victim.

Police began their investigation during the first week of December after the victim's parents came forward. They told authorities that their daughter said Lightner had touched her and had become angry with her when she refused to get into bed with him.

Officials said Lightner had befriended the victim and her family about a year ago after they met at a West Hanover Township church.

He spent a considerable amount of time at the family's Lower Paxton Township home and even slept there a couple of nights. He also recently volunteered to drive the victim to her school.

Investigators believe that there are likely other victims, and if any parents suspect that Lightner may have also indecently assaulted their child, they are encouraged to contact their local police department or Lower Paxton Township Police.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Lower Paxton Township Police Department at (717) 657-5656, the anonymous tip line at (717) 724-8317, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 262-3080.
