Carolers gather for 8-year-old girl with cancer

READING, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Pennsylvania community helped grant the wish of an 8-year-old Reading girl with cancer.

Laney Brown, 8, was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia in May. This week doctors told her family that she may only have days left to live.

Her dying wish? To have carolers sing to her.

A local Relay For Life team heard this and began a Facebook page to gather about 50 carolers on Saturday evening.

The page went viral, forcing the West Reading Police Department to shut down the road for the event so more than 6,000 people could stroll past Laney's house on Chestnut Street.

As thousands walked by singing, Laney's mother posted a picture of her with the caption, "I can hear you now!!! Love you!"

The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time but says they will post updates on the Team Laney Facebook page
