Three Dogs Killed in Roanoke House Fire

Posted:

Roanoke, VA- Three dogs were killed in a house fire in Roanoke Saturday night.

Crews arrived on the scene in the 2300 block of Garden City Boulevard around 6:45 p.m. and found heavy flames in the basement of the home, as well as smoke and flames coming from the first floor.

Firefighters had it under control in about 15 minutes. Six people escaped the home without injury, but three dogs died in the blaze. Firefighters even tried to revive a dog with CPR, but it was too late.

Officials say the fire was caused by improperly disposed of smoking materials. Damage to the home is estimated at $60,000.
