Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman identified the baby girl shot and killed Tuesday evening as 2-month-old Kestyn Davis of Lancaster. The District Attorney said the parents are continuing to cooperate with the investigation.
An autopsy performed Thursday morning determined the infant died of a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
It was originally reported by officials that the child was struck by a bullet fired from an adult family member's firearm on Tuesday afternoon on the 2100 block of Old Philadelphia Pike.
First responders to the scene performed emergency first aid, however Kestyn was later pronounced deceased at Lancaster General Hospital.
According to the District Attorney, the investigation surrounding the circumstances of the shooting should be completed this week.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Chris Jones East Lampeter Township Police at 717-291-4676 ext 3127.
