Danville, VA - An attempted robbery in Danville Thursday morning has police on the lookout.
Officers responded to a call around 11 a.m. from the CVS at the corner of Piney Forest Road and Franklin Turnpike.
A customer leaving the store reported that someone came up to him as he was getting into his car and threatened him.
Police say the suspect did not take anything and drove away from the scene.
Police say crimes like this in the daylight are rare, but offer some advice on how to avoid becoming a victim.
"A lot of times it's not good to put yourself in a position where if you come out of a store you're in a low-lit area. Be in a well-lighted area, know where you are, know your circumstances, have someone know where you're going to be. Have your cellphone with you," Lt. Michael Wallace with the Danville Police Department said.
There is currently no description available of the suspect.
