HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

During the three-day Christmas holiday driving period (December 24 to 26), state police investigated 900 crashes. Those crashes resulted in 255 injuries and eight deaths.

Of those crashes, 41 were alcohol-related and involved two fatalities. Seven of the eight people who died in crashes were not wearing seatbelts.

Troopers made 151 arrests for driving under the influence and issued 983 speeding citations during the holiday period.

State police also cited 193 individuals for failure to wear seatbelts and issued citations to 23 drivers for failing to restrain children properly in child safety seats.

During last year's four-day Christmas holiday driving period, seven people were killed and 315 others were injured in 1,336 crashes investigated by state police.

The crash numbers cover only those incidents investigated by state police and do not include statistics on crashes to which other law-enforcement agencies responded.
