YORK HAVEN, Pa. (WHTM) -

Crews battled fires at two separate homes on Railroad Avenue in Newberry Township, York County on Friday afternoon.

Crews received reports of the first fire at around 1 p.m. while the homeowner was working on his coal stove. Embers from the stove sparked the fire. Nine people were displaced, and there are a few pets that are unaccounted for.

The second fire was reported around an hour later. The fire chief suspected that wind blew embers from the first fire, causing the second incident. Both homes are separated by other residences. Seven people lived in the second home.

More than 100 firefighters from 20 departments responded to both fires.
