ELIZABETHVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

State police in Dauphin County say a Halifax man filed a false report about a trooper slamming a car door on his leg during a traffic stop.

According to officials, Kenneth Edward Belle, Jr. of Market Street came to the state police station to press assault charges against a state trooper that assaulted him.

Belle told authorities that he was stopped on October 26 and issued traffic citations. He said that the trooper then slammed the car door on his leg.

He told troopers that the injury caused him to limp, and he was unable to sleep at night because of the pain. Belle was limping as he walked into the station. He provided a written statement regarding the assault.

State police reviewed the MVR recording of the stop with Belle. According to officials, at no time during the stop did the trooper slam the door on his leg.

Belle then stopped limping after reviewing the video and admitted he lied about the assault because he was angry about the citations.

Belle was arrested and charged with false reports and unsworn falsifications to authorities. He was taken to the Dauphin County Judicial Center for arraignment.
