Deer population study in Tuscaloosa

Posted: Updated:

Tuscaloosa residents have complained about the increase in deer so much, that city officials have commissioned a study of the area's growing deer population.
The city will spend more than $4,000 to conduct the study next year, according to the director of the city's transportation department, Tera Tubbs.
Tubbs says it may be the first time the city has commissioned such a study.
Some officials are concerned that areas over-populated with deer could lead to the animals damaging property or getting hit by cars.
The study will begin around the end of January. It could take a month to a month and a half to complete.
