HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

The Dauphin County coroner has released the name of a man shot by police officers during an weekend incident in Harrisburg.

William Jackson, 43, of West Hanover Township, was fatally shot at the intersection of Brensinger and Schuylkill streets at around 4:40 p.m. Sunday, Coroner Graham Hetrick said.

Hetrick said three bullets, all fired from a distance, were recovered from Jackson's body.

Results of toxicology tests, to determine whether Jackson was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, were pending.

According to Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico, three police officers were investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle and ordered Jackson to step out of a red pickup truck.

Jackson, who was on parole for multiple charges, refused police orders and tried to flee, nearly striking at least one of the officers, before two officers fired their weapons, Marsico said.

Marsico's office is investigating the incident and will determine whether the shooting was justified.
