A slow warm-up is on the way

Posted: Updated:

The slow thaw will begin starting later today as temperatures bounce back into the 20s by the afternoon with increasing clouds.

Tomorrow peaks in the 30s and some backyards could reach near 40 degrees by Friday after a few morning flurries. All in all, plan for a fairly quiet 3 days to end the week with slightly warmer afternoon temperatures each day.

The weekend features more mild air, but rain follows. Saturday morning may start dry, but a steady rain arrives later in the day and continues into Saturday night. Temperatures will soar into the 50s Saturday afternoon as the rain arrives. Sunday should be drier, but high temperatures in the 40s will continue the January thaw heading into next week.
