LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

A woman who left her car running while it warmed up at a Lancaster County business returned to find the vehicle gone, but investigators have a lead on the cold-hearted thief.

West Hempfield Township police said the 2004 Mazda RX8 was running in the 3700 block of Hempland Road Tuesday night when the thief walked onto the property from a convenience store and stole the car.

He was last seen heading east on Hempland Road at a high rate of speed, police said.

The Mazda is black with black and red colored rims, and had a Pennsylvania license plate of HMD-2137, police said.

Investigators were able to get a photograph of the suspected thief from the convenience store.

Anyone who can identify him is asked to call Corporal Douglas Ober at 717-285-5191 or Lancaster County Crime Stoppers at 800-322-1913.

Police also urged people not to leave their vehicles unattended, even in cold weather.
