4 elderly women robbed in home invasion spree

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Four elderly women were robbed inside their homes during a series of home invasions that occurred early Wednesday in Franklin County, state police in Chambersburg said.

Police said the incidents occurred in Antrim and Quincy townships between 1:17 a.m. and 4:16 a.m.

In each incident, the intruder entered the homes by force or through an unlocked door. He demanded money when he encountered the women, and he threatened his victims in several incidents, police said in a news release Thursday.

None of the women were injured, but the robber stole cash and in one incident took jewelry from a home, police said.

Police said the victims were an 82-year-old woman and her 51-year-old daughter who live along Buchanan Trail East in Shady Grove, a 73-year-old resident of Wayne Highway in Quincy, a 73-year-old resident of Leitersburg Pike in Antrim Township, and an 84-year-old woman who lives on Gearhart Road in Antrim Township.

The intruder has been described as a white male with a small to medium build, and about 5'4 to 5'7" tall, police said.

Investigators believe the crimes are linked to two similar robberies on Dec. 22, and to a home invasion robbery of an 85-year-old woman in Washington Township on Jan. 8.

Police advised people in the area to look out for elderly neighbors who live alone.
