YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -

A York County senator has resigned after 20 years in the state legislature.

Sources tell abc27 Mike Waugh resigned his State Senate seat at midnight Monday.

The 58-year-old Republican represented York County in the State House from 1993 to 1998 and then moved to the Senate where he has served ever since.

Waugh recently won a battle with cancer.

Official statements are expected over the new few days, but sources say Waugh will soon be named director of the Farm Show.
