Officials say one person is dead after a truck that went over an embankment crashed into a home, causing a massive house fire.

According to authorities, the truck driver died after the truck crashed into a house at around 1:15 p.m. on Monday. The incident happened along South River Road (Route 147) in Upper Dauphin County between the Clarks Ferry Bridge and Route 225.

Dale Warner lives down the road. He said he thought the loud noise was a train. He walked outside and saw smoke and flames coming from the home. He said when he took a close look, he realized that a truck and ran into the side of the home.

Warner tried to help the driver but smoke and flames had engulfed the cab. "I hope it was a medical situation and he was dead before impact," said Warner, "because you don't want to wrap your mind around someone burning in a truck like that."

The Pennsylvania State Police are conducting the investigation. No word on what caused the crash.
