Police identified the suspect as 37-year-old Nathaniel Zimmerman of Fayetteville.  He was taken to the Franklin County Jail after being located at his father's residence in Fayetteville.

A hit-and-run driver crashed into a house in Franklin County, causing a fire. The family escaped unharmed.

Fire officials were dispatched to the 2300 block of Black Gap Road near Chambersburg after authorities said a vehicle tore through an open field at around 3:45 a.m. Monday morning.

The vehicle hit an embankment, sending it airborne into the front side of a home. The driver then took off from the scene on foot.

The family told abc27 that they woke up to the sound. The father, mother and 12-year-old son, plus the family dog, were able to make it out safely through their back door.

It took three hours to put out the flames.

Local ministries are planning to team up to assist the family. It is unclear if the house will be able to be salvaged.
