Rep. Ron Miller (R-Jacobus) announced that he's running for the vacant 28th State Senate seat created by the recent retirement of Senator Mike Waugh in York County.

"Public service is a true passion of mine and I firmly believe I can be an effective advocate for the people of York County in the State Senate," Miller explained. "As a member of the State House, I am uniquely positioned to hit the ground running and aggressively tackle the important issues facing the citizens of York County and the Commonwealth in the coming months and beyond."

Waugh resigned his State Senate seat at midnight Monday. The 58-year-old Republican represented York County in the State House from 1993 to 1998 and then moved to the Senate.

Governor Corbett named Waugh as executive director of the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.
