Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse has unveiled his first budget proposal.
The budget is not all that different from the one former mayor Linda Thompson proposed in December, but it does shift some money around.
Papenfuse's plan completely reorganizes the Department of Economic Development and calls for new hires. It eliminates the chief operating officer position and raises some salaries in the police department.
"Everything that I proposed...is paid for by consolidating or decreasing other salaries in the budget," Papenfuse said. "So I was very fiscally conservative in trying not to spend any money that we don't have."
The receiver's office will recommend expenditure and revenue changes on January 30. The revised budget is due February 15.
