LEWISBERRY, Pa. (WHTM) -

A York County man caught a burglar in the act and was able to hold the intruder until authorities arrived at his home, police said.

Robert W. Dierich, 44, of Camp Hill, was arrested and charged with burglary, robbery, simple assault and theft, according to Fairview Township police.

Dierich is accused of breaking into a home in the 800 block of Lexington Place.

The owner told officers that he came home Monday to find a van in his driveway. He went to his kitchen and heard footsteps coming from the upstairs, police said.

Dierich came downstairs into the kitchen and tried to cover his face, and when the home owner told him he was calling police, Dierich rushed at, shoved and tackled him, police said.

Dierich tried to get out of the house, but the owner was able to subdue him, police said.

Property from the home was later found in Dierich's van, police said.

He was placed in York County Prison on $20,000 bail.
