A Virginia man will spend at least two-and-a-half years in state prison for having a marijuana growing operation in his northern Dauphin County home.
Phillip L. Pacheco, 35, of Virginia Beach, was also sentenced Tuesday to pay a fine of $2,000 and spend five years on probation once he is released.
Pacheco was arrested in 2010 after his landlord stumbled across the large growing operation in his rental home in Pillow, where troopers then seized 140 high-quality marijuana plants along with fertilizer, circuit breakers, grow lights and a plant cloning mechanism, according to the district attorney's office.
Pacheco told authorities he was growing the marijuana for sale in another state.
His case was originally scheduled for March 2011, but Pacheco fled and was not caught until last year. He was then returned to Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty.
