CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police closed a section of Longs Gap Road north of Carlisle for several hours Thursday afternoon while they disposed of some old explosives.

North Middleton Township police said a wooden crate of dynamite was found in a barn in the 600 block of Longs Gap Road.

The dynamite was removed by the state police bomb squad to another location in the township where it was destroyed, police said.

Police said the home owner believes his father purchased the dynamite back in 1950's and never told anyone that it was in the barn.
