Ed Gillespie Announces VA Senate Run

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - The former chairman of the Republican National Committee has thrown his hat into the ring for a Virginia Senate seat.

Ed Gillespie formally launched his campaign Thursday for the seat currently held by Senator Mark Warner. The former lobbyist and one-time aide to President George W. Bush posted a video on YouTube announcing his run.

Gillespie was in Lynchburg Thursday evening for a private event at Cracker Barrel. We caught up with him afterwards.

"I believe strongly in having a campaign that is a bottom up campaign. I want a lot of people to be involved. I want to have a positive message as well as highlighting where I think Senator Warner has been wrong," said Gillespie.

A convention in June will determine the Republican Party nominee.
