CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Carlisle man accused of killing his mother is headed to trial on criminal homicide and related charges.

Paul Arthur Tolbert, 54, waived his preliminary hearing before a district judge Wednesday and allowed all counts against him to proceed to Cumberland County Court without contest.

Tolbert was arrested Dec. 3 after police were sent to a home in the first block of Spring Road, where he lived with his mother, and found 85-year-old Mary Tolbert's body in a bedroom. Investigators said she had been stabbed multiple times.

Paul Tolbert had a mop and cleaning supplies and was trying to clean the crime scene, police said.

Authorities said Tolbert also stole money from his mother to buy illegal drugs.

His formal arraignment on charges of criminal homicide, robbery, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse is set for April 24.
