Bo Jackson will return to the Chicago White Sox in an ambassador role.

The move continues the organizations trend to bring back former stars in an ambassador capacity. Jackson will join another former Auburn baseball star Frank Thomas, Carlton Fisk, Carlos May, Bill Melton and Minnie Minoso in the ambassador role.

Jackson was a two sport star at Auburn, and played football and baseball at the top level in the pros. He's the only athlete to be named an All-Star in two sports.

A hip injury suffered on the football field left Jackson's future in both sports in jeopardy but he battled back. He helped the White Sox win the American League West title in 1993.

"Bo is an American sports legend, who always will hold a special place in hearts of White Sox fans," White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in a statement. "His heroic return from what seemed to be a catastrophic career-ending injury helped us win a division title in 1993, and demonstrated to the sports world an unrivaled will and determination to be the best. It is great to again welcome Bo Jackson as a member of the White Sox."

Jackson played eight seasons in MLB and four in the NFL.

He hit .250 with 114 home runs and 415 RBIs in his baseball career, and ran for almost 28 hundred yards and 16 touchdowns in the NFL.
