Alabama basketball prepares for physical showdown with Florida

Alabama has Florida right where it wants them.

Coleman Coliseum has seemed to work as an X-factor in the Crimson Tide's favor this season but coach Anthony Grant can't figure out why, or if the venue will be a factor against the 6th ranked Gators.

"It's just a matter of going out there and putting yourself in the best position to be successful," Grant said. "I think most teams would tell you they play with more energy when they're in front of their home court team."

Alabama is 8-2 at home and 0-7 in games outside of Coleman Coliseum this season.

Grant thinks the ultimate factor in his team's up and down play is consistency. Alabama stood toe-to-toe in it's game at Missouri for one half but managed just 16 points after halftime in it's 68-47 loss in it's last game.

Finding scoring opportunities may be just as difficult against Florida, who has the SEC's top scoring defense.

"As good a team as I've seen all season in terms of the way they they've played with the variety of different defenses they've used," Grant said. "It'll be a great challenge for our team. Obviously we're excited about being at home, a chance to get back on the court and compete again."

Alabama tips off with No. 6 Florida Thursday night at 6 at Coleman Coliseum.
