Temperatures over the past few days have struggled to get into the 20s, and it's about to get even colder! Another Arctic blast of air is heading our way, but first we will see our temperatures actually rise a bit through the overnight. Most areas will be quiet as temperatures approach the freezing mark by morning. That's when a strong cold front will change the wind direction, and deliver a blustery deep freeze to Central PA with falling temperatures through the day. We will likely be down to 20 degrees for the drive home.
By Tuesday morning most neighborhoods will be waking up to temperatures in the single digits along with wind chills well below zero. It's the type of chill that we typically only see once every 5-10 years. This year we'll see it for the second time in less than three weeks! Tuesday and Wednesday will feature mainly sunny skies and afternoon highs only in the lower to middle teens.
Late in the week, the temperatures will start to warm and even get back to the freezing mark by Friday and into the weekend. Right now it appears there could be a chance for some snow showers on Friday. There is a better chance for a storm to organize over the weekend bringing the region a mixture of rain and snow due to the rising temperatures. Details on that possibility will be worked out as we get closer.
