A Hanover woman and her boyfriend were injured following an assault and robbery in West Manheim Township, York County.
According to police, a 24-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man from Taneytown, Md. were passengers in a vehicle traveling in the area of Frogtown and Fuhrman Mill roads with three other occupants on Thursday at around 9:40 p.m.
The victims knew one of the occupants, but the two others were strangers. One of these men reportedly punched the male victim in the head, brandished a knife and demanded money from the couple.
A struggle ensued, first inside and then outside the vehicle, which left the male victim with lacerations on his hands and head.
He handed over cash, and the vehicle took off. He then walked to a house about a half-mile away and called 911.
The male victim was taken to Hanover Hospital for treatment and has since been released. The female victim received a minor hand injury when she was struck by the vehicle as it fled; she was not medically treated.
Police are still investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call Chief Tim Hippensteel at 717-632-7059 ext. 101. Callers may remain anonymous.
