STEWARTSTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -

Tuesday was a typical quiet day at the Sunoco gas station on Main Street in downtown Stewartstown and that is just the way the employees like it.

One employee, who wished to remain anonymous, was working when a random attack took place outside of the Sunoco.

"It wasn't right for him to do that," said the cashier.

An elderly man was warning the cashier not to smoke outside near the gas pumps when another customer attacked him.

"Then this other gentleman came up and thought he was harassing me and just pushed him away and he fell," said the cashier.

Police believe they know what the suspect looks like and have a surveillance picture of him. The elderly man as transported by ambulance to the hospital for fractured ribs.

"I think it's strange, not many people just go up and take matters into their own hands," said the cashier.

The suspect then got in a tan car and took off.

"He was young, maybe late 30's, crew cut, stocky he had a southern accident," said the cashier.

The cashier had never seen the suspect before and has not seen him since.

"You are not supposed to pick on old people, you know we feel for him," said the cashier.
